Concussion and Post-Concussion Rehabilitation
An impact to the head can lead to a concussion if there is enough force to stretch the neurons that are part of the brain. Signs that this has happened include a loss of consciousness, a loss of memory, dizziness, confusion, nausea and vomiting and headaches, around the time of the impact. Unfortunately these problems can sometimes linger for longer than one month (this is called post-concussion syndrome). Rehabilitation approaches that include individualized exercises have been shown to reduce the severity of these symptoms and allow for a return to more normal activities
