Physical activity is essential for health. The Canadian Physical Activity Guidelines recommend engaging in 150 minutes of moderate to vigorous intensity exercise or physical activity per week. One can meet this target in many different ways. Sometimes, unfortunately, we get pain that makes meeting this goal impossible or much harder than it was before. Movement alone can sometimes provide us with relief through something called, exercise-induced analgesia. Sometimes, though we some treatment and specialized exercise to get us back in the routine of regular physical activity.
Lifting weights is an excellent form of exercise to maintain muscle mass and stay healthy
Chiropractic care, in a rehabilitation setting, like what is provided at Ottawa-Carleton Physiotherapy, sometimes combined with other treatment, can provide valuable relief and improved movement that can allow us to get back into a partial routine, and then gradually increase our ability to move for longer, until we are back to our whole exercise routine. Chiropractic will often include education about your injury and how to optimize your level of physical activity and exercise to feel better sooner and get back into your routine as soon as possible.
